Low Plasticity Burnishing (LPB) extends component life and increases damage tolerance by orders of magnitude. LPB offers a closed-loop controlled, repeatable method for adding a layer of protection to critical metallic pieces that is much greater than traditional methods like shot peening. Our life extension technology uses a deep, stable layer of residual compression to eliminate stress corrosion cracking, mitigate fatigue and extend a component’s service life hundreds of times past the original design. The process can quickly and easily treat components during the manufacturing process, before installation or in-situ after the part has been in service. Even in the face of existing damage, LPB can dramatically increase the life of a part.
